Jobs around the garden for April with Ken Crowther

Ken says:

This is the time to get busy and swing into action in the garden. Once we’re frost-free towards the end of the month start planting vegetables out in bulk.

0:28 Get feeding roses with well rotted manure
0:32 Ken says get some good rose feed on to the plants such as a qualified rose feed
0:44 Watch for black spot as now is a good time to spray with Rose Clear Ultra and prevent further spread of the disease

1:51 Ken recommends a good liquid feed for bulbs as they fade to produce more flowers next year
2:37 Start off chillis, peppers and others indoors on a window sill 2:55 Cold frames or greenhouses can start off carrots, spring onion, radishes and winter density lettuce
3:10 Look through catalogues to get seeds to plant
3:38 Lawns – cut high, as long as it is not too wet
4:00 Don’t scarify if the grass is too waterlogged
