Tiptree – December

The choice of variety is crucial for the grower looking to pick fruit commercially. Wilkin & Sons Ltd

Ken visits Tiptree’s farm ahead of Christmas and meets with farms director, Chris Newenham and he says that the raspberries have been the star of the season just finished.

The raspberries were a new variety called ‘Radiance’ and they were planted as root cuttings. It took 12 weeks for these plants to produce a crop and then the canes kept producing.

Farm manager, Andrey Ivanov talks to Ken about deconstructing the table tops of 10-acres (4 hectares) of strawberries and taking down the polytunnels.
