Sheeps wool has recently found itself at the forefront of slug repulsion technology. It works because the wool has tiny barbs and the slugs don’t like to cross the barrier made from wool.
Slug Gone are wool pellets and made by Vitax for deterring slugs.

The pellets are also good for natural water absorption and nutrient release in garden beds, planters and hanging baskets.
And being organic matter they decompose back into the soil.
