Organic gardener, Mike Thurlow has advice for gardeners on how to achieve and maintain soil fertility without the use of chemicals.
Mike says one of the first questions often asked of organic gardeners is how can soil fertility be maintained without chemical fertiliser.
He says:
Spread your organic matter [manure/rotted compost/leaf mould] over the top of the soil from around February, when the soil is beginning to warm up. If you want to supplementary feed there is pelleted chicken manure, which has Soil Association approval.
