Creating a dry garden

A planting scheme for a dry garden.

Christine Lavelle, lecturer in horticulture and ecology at ARU Writtle is working with a colleague to rejuvenating a tired, old rock garden at the entrance of the college.

The plan is to create a dry garden similar to the one at RHS Hyde Hall and following some of the planting ideas at Beth Chatto’s garden near Colchester.

Ken Crowther spoke to Christine.
