Stiga launched the We Care, That You Care campaign back in March looking to give new tools to 90 community gardening groups.
The first group to benefit from the generously donated tools are gardeners at the Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service in Berkshire.
The hospice provides specialist care and support to children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions. The service also provides respite care and help for families with very sick children from across Berkshire and into surrounding counties.
Debbie Tonkinson, Volunteer Development Manager said: “We are so grateful to STIGA for the wonderful donation of garden machinery. The kindness and generosity shown by STIGA is going to make a world of difference to our gardening club volunteers.
“The equipment will enable them to continue keeping our grounds looking beautiful, whilst also keeping our outside spaces safe and ‘play friendly’ for our children and families to enjoy. We feel very fortunate to have benefitted from STIGA’s We Care That You Care campaign, – it’s a great initiative that will really help a lot of great causes. Thank you so much STIGA!”
The range given to the hospice includes battery-powered lawnmowers, brushcutters, hedgetrimmer and blowers. These machines help to reduce the impact of gardening on the environment as they don’t have a combustion engine that burns fuel, and as a result don’t emit exhaust gases that contain a significant percentage of harmful substances.
Consequently, they are pollution-free and make gardening healthier and more enjoyable for the community and the individual gardener.
Also donated were two mini tractors for children to play and ride on!
