The gardens at Barnsdale. near Rutland Water and a short hop from Oakham, have plenty to offer during all seasons, but spring is a wonderfully vibrant time to visit.
The Japanese cherry blossoms make for a delightful display and garden owner, Nick Hamilton says: “We have very lovely Japanese cherry blossom in the garden. Prunus incisa ‘Kojo-no-mai’, I actually like it when it starts to drop its petal as there is a sprinkling of pink snow underneath the tree.”

An Easter egg hunt is being held at Barnsdale every day between the Friday 29 March and 01 April.
The event is free-with-admission and allows families to come together for a fun-filled weekend, hunting through the gardens to collect elusive Easter egg clues.
Oliver Rogers spoke to Nick about the gardens shown to millions as part of Gardeners’ World.
