Great Tree Beauties 1: Hatfield Forest and the Doodle Oak tree

Hatfield Forest is a rare example of a complete medieval Royal hunting forest and it has some legendary trees past and present.
The Doodle Oak was a massive tree with a trunk the circumference of 18.2 metres. The tree was thought to be one of two of the stoutest trees ever measured in England. It is now long gone but the photo below shows the site and possibly an oak tree that is growing from the old root and may have similar characteristics to its predecessor.
