Chloe Lucas is a nurse who has gone into farming and now has two highland cows on the marshes in Essex.
The two highland heifers are called Isla and Catriona and Chloe hopes that she will be able to host wellbeing visits for the local community in time.
She’s used social media to find her voice in the farming industry and to gain advice and crucially secure land to work with livestock on.
The dramatic career change happened following her experiences in nursing during the pandemic.
“Highlands are incredible creatures, – they’re stunning. Everything about them and what they do for the environment and nature,” said Chloe.

Chloe says farming is her passion and her enthusiasm has helped her to make connections in a new industry: “I feel like I could bring new ideas into farming. Being new and seeing from the outside looking in, just inspiring other people and if you want to do something – go for it!”
Chloe also been and trained at Writtle Agricultural College and worked on a number of diary farms across the country to build up her experience. Now she plans to build up her herd.
