A co-operative of eight from Alderton in Suffolk have got together to buy four pigs. The pigs arrive in April and will be fattened up to provide the group with quality meat. As Neville Stein Treasurer of the Peninsula Pig Club, explained to Ken Crowther.


Turkeys from Paul Kelly’s farm just outside of Chelmsford in Essex are bred to be wild. Paul’s father Derek rescued the last remaining pure bronze turkeys back in the 1980s, from which they developed the unique KellyBronze. Paul explained to Ken what makes a KellyBronze bird.


Eddie Winter farms nearly 400 acres at his Darrow Green Farm in Denton, Norfolk. They grow grain on 200 acres, the rest of the land is used to raise a herd of Lincoln Red suckling cattle, one of the UK’s oldest native breeds. Eddie told Ken about how they rear the cattle.


Things have been going well for most English vineyards, however, not all have done quite as well. Unfortunately, a frost in April has meant that 80% of Jane Mohan’s crop at the West Street Vineyard in Coggeshall was lost. Jane explained to Ken what the loss has meant to her.
